About emguio

emguio is a webmail client you run on your own server. Each user adds the mail servers they read from, an incoming IMAP server and optionally an outgoing SMTP one, and reads their mail in the browser.

  • One static binary, one SQLite file, one port.
  • Invitation only: a user exists because somebody with a shell on the host printed a link.
  • Mail settings belong to each user, added in Settings rather than in a config file.

It's early, but the everyday parts work: folders, message lists, conversations and attachments; read, star, archive, move and delete; search on the server. HTML mail is shown safely, and remote images load through a proxy that hides the reader.

Run it

Shell
# the key seals saved mail passwords: keep it, apart from the data and its backups
echo "EMGUIO_SECRET_KEY=$(openssl rand -base64 32)" > .env

docker run -d --name emguio --env-file .env \
  -e EMGUIO_PUBLIC_URL=https://mail.example.com \
  -v emguio-data:/data \
  -p 8080:80 \
  ghcr.io/reeywhaar/emguio:latest

Configuration, backups and the rest are in the README.
